10 Items You Can Pack to Fight the Heat this Summer

It's officially summer-time and along with big summer plans, comes big summer heat. Here in Texas, we know how important it is to prepare for the Texas sun and have put together a list of 10 items to have on hand, and packed in your bag to still enjoy your day during the heat!

Hat

Wearing a hat with a wide brim or visor can provide shade and protect your face from direct sunlight, helping to keep you cool. Some hats have sweat-wicking materials or ventilation features that aid in moisture evaporation and airflow. Choosing breathable fabrics and lighter colors can also contribute to staying cool. Remember to stay hydrated and seek shade for optimal heat relief.

Sunglasses

They protect your eyes from harmful UV rays and reduce glare, making it more comfortable to be outdoors.

Portable Fan

A small, battery-operated fan can provide instant relief by creating a cooling breeze wherever you go.

Towel

A lightweight, absorbent towel can be handy for wiping away sweat or using as a makeshift cooling wrap when wet.

Sunscreen

Essential for protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays and preventing sunburn. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF and wear it everyday!

Water bottle

Staying hydrated is crucial in hot weather. Carry a reusable water bottle to refill and keep yourself cool and refreshed. It is best to find an insulated water bottle so you can ensure your water is staying cold and refreshing throughout your hot day.

Windshield Sun Shade

This is especially useful if you're driving or parking your car outside. It helps block direct sunlight and keeps the interior cooler.

Electrolytes

When you sweat, your body loses electrolytes. Pack electrolyte-rich drinks or supplements to replenish them and maintain proper hydration. Adding electrolytes to your daily hydration goals is as easy as adding in a freshly sliced lemon. Be sure to listen to your body, hydrate, and add in electrolytes when needed.

Bathing Suit

Perfect for a refreshing dip in a pool, lake, or ocean. It allows you to cool off and enjoy the water during hot summer days.

Sandals

Opt for comfortable sandals or flip-flops that allow your feet to breathe and prevent overheating. They're great for casual outings or trips to the beach.

Remember to stay mindful of the heat, take breaks in shaded areas, and listen to your body's signals. Enjoy your summer while staying cool and protected!
